Last week was a pretty monumental week for my art career. I had entered the Wichita National All-Media Exhibition earlier in the summer. They had hundreds of applicants and I was fortunately one of the 83 selected. Mark Arts always has such a nice opening night for all their exhibits. Kyle Reicher was the juror for this exhibition and he came back to Wichita with his wife to give a talk at the opening. Kyle has a fondness of Mark Arts because he was their Artist in Residence many years ago. I hosted a party for all the artists and juror at my home afterwards and it was really fun getting to know them all. Such amazing, talented people!
Looking ahead at the arts here in Wichita. Autumn & Art is a fun outdoor fair that features artists in booths from all over the country. Last year I was honored to be a juror for Autumn & Art and this year I am looking forward to visiting the event.
Stripes seem to be my calling this week in the studio. I'll be posting some of my work on Instagram over the coming week.
I'm putting the finishing touches on the Texas painting which will be sold via social media this weekend and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Red Cross to help the victims of Harvey and Irma. Please check out my Facebook page or Instagram feed @pollygentrystudio if you are interested.
